Nine regular-season NFL games will be played outside the United States in 2026, starting with the 49ers and Rams at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on September 10 and finishing with the Vikings and 49ers in Mexico City on November 22. London hosts three, and Melbourne, Rio de Janeiro, and Paris are hosting for the first time.

Rio isn't a one-off, either. The league signed a multi-year deal to play at least three games in Rio de Janeiro over five years starting in 2026, which is a much bigger commitment than the usual one-season trial.
The pattern I'd point out: the schedule is now built around a back half. Seven of the nine games land between October 4 and November 22, so once London starts, there's an overseas kickoff almost every weekend until Thanksgiving week.
How many international games does the NFL play in 2026?
Nine. That's the most in league history, played across four continents, seven countries, and eight stadiums between September 10 and November 22, 2026. For comparison, the 2025 season had six international games — Dublin, three in London, Berlin, and Madrid — so 2026 is a 50% jump in a single year.
It's worth remembering how new all of this still is. The first NFL regular-season game outside North America was Giants–Dolphins at Wembley on October 28, 2007. Nineteen years later the league is running nine of them in a single autumn.
Dublin is out, and London tickets aren't moving like they used to
Dublin does not appear on the 2026 international schedule. Commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed it on February 3, 2026, at his pre-Super Bowl LX press conference, saying the league would be back in Ireland "in a few years." Croke Park hosted in 2025; it simply didn't make the 2026 list.
The more surprising wrinkle is London. Two of the three London games — Colts–Commanders at Tottenham on October 4 and Texans–Jaguars at Wembley on October 18 — were reported to still have unsold seats, according to Yahoo Sports coverage of UK fan reaction. The reasons given were ticket prices roughly 48% higher than 2024 and plain Jaguars fatigue: the October 18 game is their ninth London appearance since 2021.
Eagles–Jaguars at Tottenham on October 11 sold quickly, which tells you the appetite is still there. It's the matchup, not the market. My honest read is that London has shifted from "any NFL game sells out" to a normal ticket market where the marquee game moves and the filler game sits — and a 48% price jump in two years will do that anywhere.
2027 gets bigger: up to 10 games, maybe 11
At the owners meeting in Orlando, Florida on May 20, 2026, NFL owners approved playing up to 10 international games per season starting in 2027, raised from the previous cap of eight. Ten is the ceiling allowed under the current NFLPA collective bargaining agreement, so that's the maximum until the CBA changes.
Owners also scrapped the rule that let each club protect two home games from being assigned abroad. That's the part with real consequences — every team is now fair game for a road trip to Madrid or São Paulo, whether or not the front office likes it.
There's a loophole that pushes the real number higher. The Jaguars' Wembley game counts as a designated home game rather than an international game under the CBA, so 2027 could see as many as 11 games played overseas.
Three 2027 London dates are already set: Browns–Vikings on October 5 and Jets–Broncos on October 12 at Tottenham, and Jaguars–Rams at Wembley on October 19. Reports also suggest the Jaguars will play 2027 home games at Camping World Stadium in Orlando while EverBank Stadium is renovated, though that hasn't been confirmed by the league.
The demand data explains the push. The league's 2025 international slate averaged about 6.2 million viewers on NFL Network across TV and digital, a 32% jump over the prior year and the best on record. Goodell has said the long-term target is 16 regular-season games abroad. At the current pace, that's not a distant fantasy.
